How To Succeed With Internet Marketing

With the economy in the state it is in, more and more people are looking to add to their income, either by adding a secondary stream or by replacing their job entirely. And because of the ubiquity and power of the Internet, more and more people are starting out online. The question for may however is "can I really succeed in Internet marketing?"

The short simple answer is yes you can. But there is so much information out there that in some cases people become overwhelmed, get confused and quit. The key is consistency, daily action and breaking things down. Even if you only have 20 minutes a day, you will be able to learn what you need to be successful.

There are things to be mindful of when you first begin your leap into the Internet marketing world however, although many of them are not specific to the Internet itself, they bear repeating here:

First off, watch out for procrastination. This is the act of putting things off until the last minute. On the Internet this can be a more insidious problem than you might think as there are literally millions of sites vying for your attention. The solution? Have a plan, and if you don’t have one, make one. How? Set specific goals that you wish to achieve given a specific time frame.

I still "kick it old school" and before I go to bed at night, I’ll write down my goals for the next day on a pad of paper and leave it by the computer. When I wake in the morning, I prioritize my work, getting the least favorite jobs done an out of the way first. This way the work day is more enjoyable.

Finally, once you’ve crossed the last item off your list, THAT IS IT. Shut down the computer. You are done for that day. This way you can keep your Internet marketing efforts streamlined and efficient without burning out.

Another thing to avoid is call of perfection. By this I mean constantly striving for the "perfect" website or the "prefect" copy. This will burn you out quicker than anything else. An Israeli friend of mine has a saying: "sometimes great is the enemy of good." What he means is that while you’re revising that sale copy for the 15th time, you’ll have lost the opportunity for sales that you may have gotten had you just wrote, revised once and gone live. Obviously, you don’t want to put out copy that is riddled with errors, but if it is error free, tells a story and flows, put it out there. You can always tweak along the way.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, be careful that in your zeal for Internet marketing domination that you don’t neglect the one thing you’re doing this for: your family. It might sound trite but you absolutely need a proper balance of home and work life. It is so easy to spend hours in front of the computer without even realizing it. Before you know it, you’ve missed dinner and everyone has gone to bed. This goes back to earlier in the article, when you’ve reached your goals for the day, get away from the computer. Your family will thank you, you’ll avoid burning out, and you will find that your Internet marketing efforts will reap rewards faster than you thought possible.

Niche In Internet Marketing

When you decide to start working on the internet you should sit down and think about what you would like to work with. The Internet is a place full of different products and services and you can find pretty much anything you want to work with. But in order to find something to work with you need to know what you are looking for.

When I stared working online I tried to go into a field that I knew nothing about. Sounds silly doesn’t it. And it was. I was swept away with the idea of how much money was actually in circulation in the market I wanted to break into. I thought that if theres that much money going around it should be easy to grab a piece of it. Guess if I was wrong.

I knew nothing about the thing that I tried to promote which meant I knew nothing about the people I tried to sell products to. Knowing your potential customers is a key in all business and the internet marketing business is no different. I thought that I could be very general and get people to be interested in the product I tried to sell. Again, a product I knew nothing about since I didn’t really understand what it would do for the customer.

The point of the above rant is that you need to know who you are trying to sell things to in order to know what your customer needs. We can try to sell people the best product in the world, but if we don’t know what problem it solves for our customers, we can never convince them to buy the product. Which makes sense. If you go into a car dealer and the sales person tries to sell you a van when you’re actually looking for a sports car, the chance is slim that you get even a little interested in what he has to say.

My suggestion is to pick something that you are interested in when you are starting up. It doesn’t matter if you write articles, blog or make landing pages for PPC search engines, if you know what you’re talking about you can better sell the products. Worth mentioning is that most niches have smaller niches within them and only someone who are really interested in the topic might know about these micro niches. Knowing these things will make it easier to sell things too since you can talk about how the product solves exactly this particular problem for people.

After my first failure at just picking a random area to work with, I actually did pick something I’m interested in. It’s been my hobby for a few years now and I know what I’m talking about in this field which makes the material I write seem a bit more convincing. So, what you decide to work with is really up to what kind of person you are but it could be basically anything you are interested in and know a good deal about. Hobbies, sports, work related things - there are a lot of options. Find the niche you want to work with and then find a product or products that you think would help the people you want as customers. Most often its people with an interest for the same thing as you, so you know how to talk to them.

If you can’t think of anything that you would like to work with or there are simply no products that you think would sell you might have to learn a new thing. Pick something you would like to know more about and start reading about this subject, become an expert in what you want to do and you will have better results.

Business From Internet Marketing Strategies

If you have a business, you know that you need to have a website. Having a web presence allows businesses to expand their clientele and generate business even when their brick and mortar store is closed. Many people have even found that the Internet is a great place to have a business without even having a traditional brick and mortar store. To market you business on the Internet properly and effectively you need an Internet marketing strategy.

To improve your website traffic, you’ll need to implement SEO. This is one of the easiest and fastest ways to market your website. It can be a little tricky to navigate if you don’t know what you’re doing. But following some basic tips will get you well on your way to successfully using SEO.

there are rules for how you’re supposed to implement your keywords. By following them, you get better results. Your traffic and coverage will be better, which is what you want. Generally the rules are to stick to no more than 20 words on the description, and having 2-3 keywords on the title of your site. Going beyond the recommended word count can lead to your site being banned or blacklisted by search engines - which is not what you want.

All this means that when you develop an online presence for your business the marketing that worked in the real world will need a little adaptation. Marketing is nothing more than an incremental process. That process is comprised of a series of steps with clear objectives. Those objectives include:

* Grab the attention of the right people
* Stimulate interest
* Motivate action
* Reward action

Apart from the ordinary e-books and tools available, you will need direction in your internet marketing career in order to get off on the right foot. The best place to find this information is to listen to people who already have a well developed knowledge of online marketing. You can make a relatively easy money over the internet, but you must learn the fundamentals and build your foundation before doing so. It’s almost like an electrician. In order to become an electrician, people need to undergo a significant amount of training in order to retain the proper skills to effectively do their job on a daily basis. When working online whether it be selling and promoting other peoples products, information products, or whatever you may find for a source of income you have to be trained properly in order to learn.

Free Internet Marketing

Knowing how to market online is the most important thing when it comes to trying to run any type of online business. There are two major ways of doing internet marketing. There is paid marketing and there is also free marketing. In the past, you would be led to believe that the only way you could be successful with your online marketing efforts was by means of paid marketing. Well, today I am here to let you know that times are changing my friend. There are many ways that you can market whatever it is that you are marketing very effectively for free, yes I said free. This article will take a look at a few of the easiest and most powerful free marketing strategies people are using today.

You need to understand that a little more effort needs to be used for free advertising say, then a paid method, but the earning potential will be just about the same without you having to spend a dime. Here are some free ways that you can market online.

Start A Blog - Blogs are often times over looked as a way of marketing . You can start a blog that has to do with whatever it is that you are marketing and begin to get free traffic. Your blog should contain links and banner ads that will lead your visitors to your sales page or signup sheet. Many blog sites now give you the option to upload videos which can really liven up your blog. I would recommend setting up your blog with Wordpress or Blogger because they get the highest amount of traffic and have a good ranking with Google. To maximize your free traffic from blogs you should set up a blog with both Wordpress and Blogger.

Free Classified Sites - This would seem logical but the trick here is posting on free classified sites that get a decent amout of good traffic. See, there are many free classified sites that really are not worth your time. Two very popular free classified sites are Craigslist and Back Page. These two sites receive miliions and millions of visitors each month.

Social Networking Sites - You’ve all heard of social networking sites, but did you know that many are using these sites as free ways to market their products or business opportunity. Many are making a full time income using some of these sites such as the ever so popular Myspace and even Facebook. When creating pages on these two sites you need to really base them around what you are trying to market. Be sure to place links and banners to where you want your visitors to go. Make your layout as sleek and to the point as possible, do not overwhelm your visitors with to much advertising.

YouTube - This is a very effective way to utilize free marketing. You Tube is the internet’s largest video sharing site receiving tons of traffic every single day. Video marketing has become one of the fastest and easiest ways to reach potential customers on the web. Start creating videos about your products or opportunities and start uploading them on YouTube. Don’t just make one video and call it a day. Try to upload a new video once or twice a week.

There are free ways to market on the internet that actually do bring results. The methods listed above are the ones that will get you the traffic and overall exposure that you want and deserve. Be willing to put ina little time ad effort, i exchange for spendinf the money to get the same results.

Internet Marketing

How Website Color Choice impacts on effective Internet Marketing. A guide to choosing colors that enhance the image and impression you wish to portray on your website.

I briefly touched on this subject in a previous e-book titled "The Forgotten Fundamentals of SEO" available at Web Design Australia and I have been asked by a few people to expand and explain more about the psychology of color and how it affects what you should be for your website from a marketing perspective.

The internet is the ultimate visual and psychological medium. It provides businesses with an unparalleled avenue to reach potential customers. In this visually engrossing world it is the copy, or words, on your website that have the greatest psychological impact on visitors and given this they become your most important communication and sales tool.

Another important psychological aspect of your website is the often over looked and definitely misunderstood marketing strategy of colors. The same as we use words and phrases to describe and express our intentions color can be used to convey similar messages in more subtle and concealed ways. As an example of a color being used to convey a feeling, when I was at University they painted the walls in the library a light pastel-pink color to try and enhance the studying environment. Did it work? I really don’t know, I was in the computer lab, but I am guessing that subliminally there was probably some impact whether it be physically measurable or not.

In the past choosing color schemes for websites used to be left up to the programmer who was responsible for just getting something up and running. Often there was no forethought or planning for real graphic design or image perception. "A simple site, nothing fancy". I am fairly certain that every web developer has been asked for something like this, I know I have. If you really want to succeed in 2007+ then this kind of website will just not work.

Given the competitive nature of the Internet market, there has been a steady influx of Internet marketing professionals who are looking to stamp their mark on the ever increasingly competitive keyword monopoly game. Every day there businesses employ Internet marketing agencies to employ their expert marketing strategies to their business. Often these are for huge fees. One area that I see getting missed during these expensive website makeovers is the psychology of color.

I believe it is important to address this marketing issue in design and ensure it the colors chosen are enhancing and supporting the overall theme and feel of the website in an effort to get the website visitor to perform the action we actually want them to do on our website; be it contact us on email, buy a product or feel comfortable browsing our articles and reading the news.

So what colors should we be incorporating into our website designs to ensure we convey the right message to our visitors? I have detailed a list of colors and their associated feelings and keywords so you can get an idea or what to put on your webpages.

RED is associated with love, passion, danger, warning, excitement, food, impulse, action, adventure.
BLUE is associated with trustworthiness, success, seriousness, calmness, power, professionalism.
GREEN is associated with money, nature, animals, health, healing, life, harmony.
ORANGE is associated with comfort, creativity, celebration, fun, youth, affordability.
PURPLE is associated with royalty, justice, ambiguity, uncertainty, luxury, fantasy, dreams.
WHITE is associated with innocence, purity, cleanliness, simplicity.
YELLOW is associated with curiosity, playfulness, cheerfulness, amusement.
PINK is associated with softness, sweetness, innocence, youthfulness, tenderness.
BROWN is associated with earth, nature, tribal, primitive, simplicity.
GREY is associated with neutralality, indifference, reserved.
BLACK is associated with seriousness, darkness, mystery, secrecy.

When choosing colors for your site it is important to employ contrasting or sympathetic and complementary color schemes. It is important to identify your market and ensure the psychological message you are trying to get across with the rest of your site design, words and images is complemented and enhanced by the appropriate color scheme. Often it can be wise to run samples of the same site with slightly differing colour schemes past a test audience and see which has the best impact or you can even run differing coloured sites to visitors and track conversions to your goals. Its really up to you how to try and test or track the impact of your psychological color message on your Internet Marketing.

Internet Marketing Advice

With so many people trying to get into internet marketing I thought some friendly advice could help them. This is kind of an introduction of things to expect.

Internet marketing for beginners is somewhat of an apparently contradictory term. Executing effective strategies can be extremely difficult within Internet marketing. This is because while in theory the concepts behind Internet marketing might be quite simple, sometimes it is a very difficult process to gain the upper hand. Even for those who are quite experienced in the world of Internet marketing, this can be quite tough.

By taking this in consideration, this article will undertake to explain the concept of Internet marketing for the newbie (beginners) and will outline some basic concepts and strategies which can aid a business owner to launch his own Internet marketing campaign. We will investigate concepts such as creating a website, sending out e-newsletters, placing banner ads, generating an email marketing campaign and optimizing your website for search engines sometimes called SEO friendly.

Probably creating a website is one of the most basic steps for starting an Internet marketing campaign. If you have a poorly designed website or do not have a website at all you should consider creating or re-designing a website to adequately market your products. If you have little or no experience in web design, there are a number of software packages which make it a snap to create a functional website. An alternative is to hire a web designer. This the best route because he/she can work to create a website which is attractive, functional and suitable to your products and series. He/she can also help you include more advanced features on your website.

Banner ads are still a popular option for advertising your business on the Internet. Banner ads are advertisements which usually appear at the top of a website but it may also include smaller ads in other locations. Most of the time banner ads include graphics and text which lure Internet users to click on the advertisement. After clicking on the banner, they are directed to your website. This type of banner advertising can be very effective when attention is taken to place the advertisements on high volume websites which attract an audience who will have a common interest in your products.

Sending out e-newsletters can also be a part of an effective Internet marketing strategy. E-newsletters are essentially emails which may contain a variety of information including informative articles, useful quizzes, relevant advertising or any other information which is deemed worthwhile for the recipients of the e-newsletter.

The grandness of these newsletters is that they can be used as marketing tool which are not viewed by the readers as an advertisement. One way to do this is to incorporate links or other soft sale approaches into the copy of the e-newsletters. However, care should be taken to keep these references minimal so the e-newsletter is not viewed as spam which is illegal.

Another successful type of an Internet marketing campaign is called Email marketing. Email marketing basically involves sending out emails to a group of individuals who may be interested in your services or products. Unsolicited emails and will be viewed as spam. So great care should be exercised in sending out these emails to avoid sending emails which are unsolicited and will be viewed as spam. The best way is to only send out the emails to users who have requested inclusion on an email mailing list, usually referred to as opt-in lists.

The most important aspect for your website is optimizing for search engines. This is a critical aspect of an Internet marketing campaign in regards to a website. Most of the time you will see this referred to as SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Many search engines rank websites according to quality and relevance for particular search terms usually referred to as keywords. These keywords are used by the search engines find the best websites on a particular subject. This typically means the Internet users are likely to only visit websites which rank well with the search engines. Therefore if your website does not have a high ranking, you are not likely to generate a great deal of traffic from Internet users who use search engines to find relevant websites. Websites with a high ranking are more likely to obtain the most traffic from search engines and all websites falling on the first page of the search engine results will likely enjoy some degree of success in improving their traffic.

Another really good aspect of internet marketing is the use of ezines. You post articles into numerous ezine sites on the web. These sites are read by many people seeking targeted information. These articles should be something of value to your reader to gain their interest. I ran across a site that has 15,000 pre-written quality internet articles. Many times this gives your promotion to people who are a highly targeted audience. There is a small charge for these articles, but believe me it is money well spent, saving you hundreds of hours worth of work. The site is located at http://surf2url.com/nzyjy I know this will help you out as much as it has me.

Good luck on your internet marketing.

PPC Internet Marketing Advice

Learn how you can monetize your blogs better with AdSense or other systems - simple PPC advice for bloggers.

Almost all bloggers monetize their traffic with the help of PPC (pay per click) programs and systems, among which Google AdSense program is the most famous one. And, of course, one of the most important tasks of every blog owner who uses PPC program is to make more people click the ads: the higher percentage of clickers is - the better.

All these efforts come down to simple question: how to increase CTR level of my ads? Note: CTR is click through rate which shows the % of the people who click on the ads.

Try to put yourself into the shoes of blog visitor, and the situation gets clear. Only the person who is search hungry is very likely to click the ads of PPC program, because these ads are usually very good in giving more relevant results to the search hungry visitors of your blog. These people are happy to find as much info around their topic as possible, and their clicking habit at this very moment is extremely high.

So, search hungry people who came to your blog from the search engines are very likely to show better CTR and click on your PPC ads a lot more.

And this is the time when modern PPC Internet marketing solutions come to help.

Technologically it is possible to set up your ads to be displayed only to the traffic that comes to your blog from search engines. You are not dispersing the efforts any longer. If the solution "sees" that blog visitor A is a regular visitor to this blog - it is very likely that he or she is reading the content of this blog very attentively and will not be mentioning the PPC ads. When solution "sees" that visitor B came to the blog right from the search engine and has come here for the first time, this person should see the PPC ads.

Solutions that help to create this kind of scenarios greatly help to display the necessary type of ads to the necessary type of audience: affiliate offers for loyal blog visitors, PPC ads for the traffic that has just come from search engines to the blog. This increases the effect from your advertising and will give you very nice CTR on PPC ads which is also a nice record to be shown to other potential advertisers.

The creation of scenarios for PPC ads display is integrated into the Semilogic - the blog platform creator interviewed by Blog about Blogging for Money and Hobby.
